Using SM, TM, and S Marks

Many writers have difficulty figuring out when to use the service mark, trade mark, and registered symbols in writing. It’s important to use these symbols properly to protect content and to demonstrate professionalism. I recently wrote a detailed review of the proper use of these symbols and you can check out that post on the Writer Wrangler blog site by clicking here.  You’ll find other articles on this website (under my pen name Zoe Day) which may be helpful to you in your writing ventures.

Happy writing!

Writing Projects Abound

The latest projects at WordPotential have been extremely fun and exciting! We’ve just completed an extensive array of articles related to weight control and using the power of the mind to make it possible to achieve your goals. The articles and ebook are currently being finalized and when the new website is up and running, we’ll let you know so you can check it out. Hopefully, you will find something of interest that can also help you in different areas of your life.

We have also just completed a series of articles related to sensory processing for the www.LifeSkills4Kids.com website. This website offers a huge variety of products to help teachers, parents, and therapists who are responsible for teaching children healthy growth and development concepts and strategies. The recent articles created by WordPotential will be included on the newly designed website which is under construction. Many of them will also be included in an upcoming email series and in the newly launched newsletter.

In addition, we are creating articles for a nationally respected doctor who is focused on creating products and services to help people overcome addictions related to alcohol, drugs, chocolate, and more. This is a particularly intensive project that will offer hope to literally thousands of people!

One of our fun projects is focused on the creation of several 52-week series of articles related to Yoga, meditation, and the power of the mind. It’s a fascinating study and we are excited to be part of this site’s messaging.

There’s much more happening at WordPotential and we spend so much time working for our clients, we can’t believe how quickly time passes. If you’re interested in having content created for your business, website, newsletter, ezine, or any other source, please contact us at rhondaday@msn.com. We would love to help you.

And, we’d love to hear from you about anything you’d like to learn more about!

Thank you for visiting and remember, make every word count!

SEO for Microsoft’s BING

There’s a new player in town and it’s causing quite a stir. BING is Microsoft’s new ‘decision engine’ and writers who want to optimize content need to understand how this new guy works. According to an article in Webpronews.com, BING’s growth has been incredible with more unique visitors in May, 2009 than Digg, Twitter, and CNN. Of course, Google still leads the pack when it comes to search engines. But BING says they can produce better results based on prior searches and they tout that they help users make better decisions faster.

Unlike traditional search engines, BING uses different criteria and algorithms to determine if a website is worthy of high page rank. Consider some of the following differences as you create content that attracts the BING decision engine:

  1. BING prefers pages with at least 300 words. For BING to deem a site worthwhile, be sure to include at least 300 words per page and you’ll be more attractive to them.
  2. Titles count in SEO and that was never more important than it is with BING. With this new decision engine, it’s critical to use keywords and tightly worded titles that are very relevant to the overall content.
  3. BING likes old domain names. If you have an old domain - great. If you don’t, you may want to consider purchasing an older domain to attract BING’s attention.
  4. Finally! An engine that LIKES outbound links. Traditional search engines are looking for a higher ratio of inbound to outbound links. But BING actually likes outbound links and gives credibility to them when they link to relevant websites.
  5. Advertising on BING is relatively inexpensive and they have created a tool to make it easier to transition an existing advertising campaign from Google or Yahoo. Check out their advertising link at  Microsoft Advertising.
  6. BING has done their homework and they are attracting visitors who are in the purchase-decision mode — thus the term “decision engine”!

When it comes to search engine optimization (SEO), or in BING’s case — decision engine optimization (DEO), it pays to know how the new guy evaluates and ranks websites. Don’t assume what worked in the past will work with BING. Paying attention to how search engines and decision engines evolve is essential for anyone interested in creating content that attracts and drives results.
